AGD Will Officially Express Its Concern To The ADA This Week
The Academy of General Dentistry, AGD, which represents 35,000 general dentists, will officially convey its concern over the ADA's newly proposed anesthesia guidelines this week.
The AGD Council on Dental Care met on February 10, 2007 to review the ADA's proposals, which TEAM 1500 believes would fall most heavily on the shoulders of general dentists.
"Among AGD's concerns were the lack of necessity for the guidelines, the likely resulting negative impact on access to oral health care, and the lack of availability of education to comply with the proposed guidelines," wrote Srini Varadarajan, the AGD's director of dental benefit programs and dental practice, in an email to TEAM 1500.
Varadarajan said that the AGD will meet the February 23rd deadline that the ADA has set for comments to be submitted pertaining to the anesthesia guidelines.
Founded in 1952, the AGD is dedicated to advancing the value and excellence of general dentistry.
