    Dear

    WE NEED YOUR HELP!

More to the point, you need to help yourself and others who have avoided dental treatment because of anxiety or fear.

We know you came to us because we could do your treatment with sedation. We call it “Totally Relaxed Dentistry”. Technically it is Oral Conscious Sedation (OCS). We hope it helped you get the care you needed and now we need your help to respond to forces that would take away your ability, and that of others who have a fear of dental treatment, to receive care using Oral Conscious Sedation .

The anesthesia committee of the American Dental Association (ADA) has proposed changes in its sedation and anesthesia guidelines that would make it difficult and undesirable for dentists to be properly trained in the administration of Oral Conscious Sedation. And for those of us already trained, they would take away our ability to continue to provide this valuable service at a reasonable cost to our patients.

Now the American Dental Association only makes up guidelines, the State Board of Dental Examiners make the actual rules. However, currently the State Board of Dental Examiners rules say we must “follow the American Dental Association guidelines”. See what I mean? There’s potentially a real problem here.

Here’s how you can help. A non-profit organization called Trust for Equal Access Medicine (TEAM1500) is advocating for patients to be able to have access to affordable healthcare including dental care. The proposed American Dental Association guidelines will severely limit access to care and many of you who have anxiety will just stop going to the dentist if you can’t be sedated (are we right?).

TEAM 1500 will bring our message to the American Dental Association in hopes of changing their guidelines. But they need input from you, our patients. We need you to write a letter to the American Dental Association stating your desire to continue to receive safe oral sedation under the current guidelines and not be denied access because of proposed restrictive changes in their guidelines. Tell them how Oral Conscious Sedation has helped you.

We need that letter by January 24, 2007 at our office to forward to TEAM 1500. Can you do that for us?

If we don’t win the battle with the American Dental Association, we need to take it to our State Board, so we’ll forward a copy of your letter to them as well.
This is important to us, it’s important to you and it’s important to the hundreds of patients like yourself who have not yet taken advantage of Oral Conscious Sedation and may never get the chance to do so.

    Thank you for your help.

    Dr. Robert Limoges
    Dr. Kevin Connelly

P.S. This is very urgent. Please help us help you.

Got a list of 30 patients organized.
      We WILL mobilize tomorrow.
This ADA proposal is preposterous and total rubbish given the incredibly high safety record and happy patients.
I would highly recommend that we have a PR campaign in our arsenal if necessary.

Everyone please get rolling on this!

      Thanks

Good going Bob. My version of this is going out tomorrow. Our money is going out tomorrow too. It's time to stand and be counted! This travesty must stop.
